İngilizce’de isimler hakkında belirsiz miktar belirteçleri ile ilgili kullanım koşulları ve kurallarını aşağıda bulacaksınız. Miktar belirteçleri net rakamlar belirtmek yerine, dinleyen için az, çok, biraz, bir kaç gibi fikirler vermek için kullanılır.

İngilizce’de miktar belirteçlerinin kullanımı isimlerin sayılan ve sayılmayan isim olmalarına göre değişmektedir.

A lot of / lots of
(Çok / Bir Çok)

İsimlerden önce gelerek onların miktarını belirtirler. Hem sayılabilen hem de sayılamayan isimlerden önce gelirler.

A lot of time (çok zaman), a lot of questions (bir çok soru), lots of milk (çok süt)

I like to drink a lot of coffee. (Çok kahve içmekten hoşlanırım.)
There is lots of traffic in İstanbul. (İstanbul’da çok trafik var.)
There is a lot of work. (Çok iş var.)
He has lots of problems. (Çok problemi var.)
There are a lot of cars in the car park. (Araba parkında çok araba var.)
I want lots of apples. (Çok elma istiyorum.)

MANY. MUCH
Many + Sayılabilen Çoğul İsim Much + Sayılamayan İsim
Many students / many people

 Did you buy many magazines?
 I don’t know many people in my town.
 How many classes do you take a semester?
Much money / Much water
 How much money do you spend a day ?
 I don’t have much confidence in him.
 There isn’t much water in the glass.

“Many” birçok cümle türünde kulalnılır:
 Do you have many friends?
 I don’t have many friends.
 There are many people in this town. Much daha çok sour ve olumsuz cümlerde kullanılır. Olumlu cümlelerde tercih edilmez.
 Do you drink much tea?
 I don’t drink much tea.

A few + Sayılabilen Çoğul İsim A little + Sayılamayan İsim
A few students / a few people

 There was a little traffic.

A few means some , but not many.
 I have a few friends.
 Martin has a few problems.
 There are a few people in this town. A few means some , but not much.
 She didn’t eat anything, but she drank a little coffee.

(Very) Few bahsedilen isimden nerdseyse yok kadar eksik olduğunu anlatır. (Very) Little bahsedilen isimden nerdseyse yok kadar eksik olduğunu anlatır.

 I feel really sorry for him because he has few friends.
 I admire him because he has few problems.
 I am lucky because I have few financial difficulties.
 I can’t afford that car since I have little money.
 We were able to arrive at the airport on time because there was little traffic.
 I can’t wait any longer. I have little patient left

Note: Örneklerden de anlaşılabileceği gibi (very) few & (very) little tek başlarına olumlu veya olumsuz anlamlar vermez .Bulundukları duruma gore anlamları olumlu veya olumsuz anlamı pekiştirir. (very) few & (very) little miktarca daha yoksunluktan bahseder.

Some , any ve No sayılan ve sayılamayan isimlerle kullanılır.
Some ve any beilrsiz veya yetersiz miktar anlatmak için kullanılır..
No ise yokluktan bahseder. Bir başka değişle, bahsedilen isimden hiç bulunmadığını
anlatmak için kullanılır..

a) Some olumlu cümlelerde kullanılır:
• I had some rice for lunch
• He’s got some books from the library.
b)Aynı zamanda some cevabından olumlu sonuç beklediğim sorularda kullanılır.:
• Did he give you some tea? (= I’m sure he did.)
• Is there some fruit juice in the fridge? (= I think there is)

c) Bazen some bir ricada bulunmak veya ortaya fikir atmak için soru cümlelerinde kullanılabilir.
• Could I have some books, please?
• Why don’t you take some books home with you?
• Would you like some books?

Any soru ve olumsuz cümlelrde not ile kullanılır.

• Have you got any tea?
• He didn’t give me any tea.
• I don’t think we’ve got any coffee left.
No olumlu cümlerde yokluktan bahsetmek için kullanılır.
• I have no time, so I have to hurry up.
• He didn’t give me any tea, so I had no tea
• I think we have no coffee left.
• Are there no people in the room?
• I don’t think we’ve got any coffee left.

SOME Olumlu Cümlelerde.
a. I will have some news next week.
b. She has some valuable books in her house.
c. Philip wants some help with his exams.
d. There is some butter in the fridge.
e. We need some cheese if we want to make a fondue.

SOME Sorularda
a. Would you like some help?

ANY Olumsuz Cümlelerde.
a. She doesn’t want any kitchen appliances for Christmas.
b. They don’t want any help moving to their new house.
c. No, thank you. I don’t want any more cake.
d. There isn’t any reason to complain.

a. Do you have any friends in London?
b. Have they got any children?

I met someone(Birisiyle tanıştım)

► “any” kelimesi Türkçe’de hiç anlamına gelir ve negatif cümlelerde kullanılır

Examples:

I’m not going to buy any eggs (Hiç yumurta almayacağım)

There isn’t any ice in the fridge (Buzdolabında hiç buz yok)

They didn’t make any mistakes (Hiç hata yapmadılar)

She didn’t say anything (Hiçbirşey söylemedi)

I didn’t meet anybody (Kimseyle tanışmadım)

SORU CÜMLELERİNDE “SOME” VE “ANY”

► Soru cümlelerinin çoğunda (istisnalar vardır) “any” kullanılır

- Is there any ice in the fridge? (Buzdolabında hiç buz var mı?)

- Did they make any mistakes? (Onlar hiç hata yaptılar mı?)

- Are you doing anything this evening? (Bu akşam birşey yapıyor musun?)

İnsanlara birşey teklif ederken veya birşey önerirken kullandığımız soru cümlelerinde “any” değil, “some” kullanılır Bu cümleler kalıp olarak soru cümlesi olsa da anlam bakımından ele alındığında gerçek soru değildir, tekliftir

Examples:

- Would you like some milk? (Biraz süt ister misiniz)

Bu cümle yapı olarak soru cümlesi olsa da bilgi alma amaçlı sorulan gerçek bir soru değildir, bir tekliftir

- Would you like something to drink? (İçecek birşey ister miydiniz?)

- Can I have some bread? (Biraz ekmek alabilir miyim?)

Any örnek cümleler
1-There weren’t any dogs in the park.
2-I don’t like any of them.
3-I have three pairs of scissors and I can’t find any of them.
4-I don’t need help. I’m fine.

5-She never causes any trouble
6-Have you got any oranges?
7-I havent got any apples
8- Do you have .any brothers or sisters?
9-I don’t know any good jokes
10-She doesn’t have .any children.
11-Sorry, we don’t have any paper.
